Who we are, and our mission: Each year about 680,000 dogs are euthanized in shelters across the US ( data from 2020). As of 2022, animals entering the shelter has seen an 8.1 percentage increase, and euthanasia rates increased by 2.3 percent.
Our mission is to save dogs that are abused, neglected, dumped and/or discarded to fend for themselves. Those who wind up in the shelter and are facing euthanasia. We completely vet each dog, place them in a loving foster home where they can blossom with nurture, love and care. Then work on finding them a wonderful FURever home, once they are cleared for adoption and transport.
We are an all-inclusive, foster-based, 501(c)(3) canine rescue and strive to find the best home possible for each dog we save. We believe each and every dog deserves a fighting chance and a family of their own, and to experience love. We wish to give these dogs and our adopters many happy and fulfilling years with each other!
Rescue is not easy or cheap. We are a non-profit organization that is 100% volunteer run. We do not have government funding, large donors, sponsors or business backing. We rely completely on small donations and adoption fees.
The founders of Paws Rescue League are extremely passionate about dog rescue and have worked with multiple Rescues Organizations, Independent rescuers, Humane Societies and Animal Control Directors over the course of many years. We started Paws Rescue League Inc. because we wanted to do MORE to help save dogs and to ensure that all our volunteers share the same goals, ideals and values when it comes to our canine companions. We strive to work with other rescues in the communities we save dogs from. We are firm believers that it takes a village, and our focus is to save canine lives, and find them the best possible homes. When we all have the same common goal, it is easy to come together, and support one another. We are big supporters of local Humane Societies, many canine, and feline rescues across many states, as well as non profits geared to bettering the quality of the lives of canines.
Paws Rescue League Inc. gives back to the communities as often as we can. We donate surplus food, medications and supplies that are donated to, or collected by Paws Rescue League Inc, we donate to pet food banks for low income families who are struggling to continue to care for their beloved pets. We hold weekly donation drives so we can continue to help these beloved pets stay with their loving families. The current economy, and rising costs of food, and vet care, rescues have seen an uptick in the number of dogs surrendered to animal control, or dumped due to not being able to afford food and vet care. We try to do our part to help prevent dogs and cats entering shelters, by providing dog/cat food to families who want to keep their pets, but are having a hard time providing for them. Paws Rescue League Inc. gives financial assistance to spay/neuter dogs in these communities, to help decrease the overpopulation of dogs that wind up on the street, in shelters or worse.
Additionally we work very hard to ensure both our fosters/volunteers and adoptive families are getting helpful support and guidance. Each foster and adopter receives a packet filled with helpful information from decompression time, proper intros, to how to keep your new furbaby safe, and more. We work with many of our adopters both before and after they take their new family member home. We hope to set each dog and family up for success, and for a lifetime of friendship and love!
